The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry conducts research focused on mental health promotion, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of psychiatric disorders in children and adolescents.
Key research areas include epidemiology of mental disorders among children and adolescents, assessment of mental health in vulnerable populations and socially disadvantaged groups, as well as the study of neurotic, psychosomatic, emotional, and behavioral disorders. Particular attention is given to the impact of social stressors, adverse childhood experiences, and humanitarian challenges on child and adolescent mental health.
The Department develops and evaluates innovative approaches for early identification, diagnosis, treatment, and psychosocial rehabilitation of young people with mental health disorders. Research findings have contributed to the implementation of evidence-based technologies for early intervention and rehabilitation in healthcare and educational settings across Ukraine.
The Department has also developed models of integrated medical, psychological, and social support for children and adolescents, including school-based mental health services. Current activities include multidisciplinary research, development of preventive programs, and participation in national and international initiatives aimed at improving child and adolescent mental health outcomes.
